Date: 24 November 2022
Place: Hybrid (Athens/Online)
The 2nd NanoMECommons Workshop – Materials characterization and software tools as key enablers in NMBP-35 projects: towards industrial transition and wider acceptance of new methods and products, was held on the 24 November 2022, as a hybrid event (Athens/online).
This workshop was organised by nanoMECommons Project together with other NMBP-35 projects (CHARISMA and EASI-STRESS) and supported by the European Materials Characterisation Council (EMCC).
The outcomes of the workshop will be used for an Open Consultation Process, by identifying the community needs in accordance with EC directives and EMCC objectives in three key thematic areas:
- Characterization/Standardization
- Suites of multi-scale/AI modelling and characterization
- Materials 2030 Roadmap: Characterization and modelling as horizontal enablers
More than 90 people registered to participate on this workshop, with around 35 attending in person.
1st Co-Creation Workshop
Materials characterization challenges to support the industry transition in the digital era

Place: Online
The 1st co-creation Workshop, entitled “Materials characterization challenges to support the industry transition in the digital era” has been successfully conducted, with the participation of more than 20 experts, 10 projects, 4 key industrial players, and over 50 attendees.
This co-creation workshop event was supported by the European Materials Modelling Council (EMMC ASBL) and the European Materials Characterisation Council (EMCC). The objective of the workshop was to establish synergies within NMBP characterization projects and testbeds on emerging challenges that arise in the context of industrial twin transition to Industry 4.0 and 5.0, with special remarks paid on the following topics: a) Interoperability – Standardisation – Harmonisation, b) Thinking Digital – entry to a new era, c) Industrial Insights.
The workshop was divided in 4 sessions:
• Interoperability – Standardization – Harmonization
• Think Digital – entry to a new era
• Industrial Insights
